Crestview, FL
The community of Crestview sits just 11 miles to the north of Duke Field along Interstate 10 in the Florida Panhandle. Originally founded in the late 1800s, Crestview grew with the railroads. Today, it boasts a population of about 21,000 people. In 2011, the town exepirenced growth when the 7th Special Forces Group moved from their previous home at Ft. Bragg, NC to Duke Field.

In the past, Crestview was sometimes referred to "the icebox" because of it's unusually cold winters. However, "cold" is a relative term in Florida. Average winter lows are in the upper 30s and low 40s. Summers are warm and humid with rain. The official climate designation is "humid sub tropical." Crestview is about 37 miles from the resort communites of Desitn and Santa Rosa Island on the Gulf Coast. The Yellow River Water Management Area is also nearby, offering year-round access to outdoor activities like camping and hiking.
